What is the best kind of paint to use to cover a large amount of old chipped paint? With the amount of work that needs to get done, I am not sure if it is something I can do on my own or if I should hire a painter.

I am pretty sure you can use any kind of good quality paint to go over the chipped paint areas. If you are unsure how to go about covering those spots, it might not hurt to hire a painter for the job. They will make sure that everything is done properly and to your liking.
