Lawn Care in the urban center?

I'm wondering if there is a difference between lawn care practices in the city vs those done in suburbia? I recently moved to Toronto and I am trying to combat the number of weeds in my yard.

I live close to a creek and wooded area. I have held off spraying or fertilizing my lawn because I am concerned how it may affect the surrounding environment. My lawn has suffered, and now with an upcoming event to be held in my yard this spring, I finally need to address those weeds and brown patches.

Does anyone know if spraying my lawn could cause harmful chemicals to drain into the creek?

My Lawn needs S.O.S Care

My front and back lawn is overrun with violets.

My neighbor had planted them a few years back and they grow faster than weeds. I'm located in Toronto and a healthy lawn is extremely important to me. I want the best care for my lawn.

What are my options to rid of them that wouldn't kill my grass?

I used the Weed Man lawn care service in Toronto last year and I was very pleased with the results. They were very professional and by the end of summer we saw a significant improvement in our lawn. We will continue with the Weed Man lawn care in Toronto again this year

I live in the west end of toronto, and my lawn is never green. Perhaps the pollution? Whatever the factors are, I grew tired of having a brown patch in the place of a lawn. A friend recommended Weed Man (She lives in Pickering and uses them there.), and I am pretty happy I did. While it hasn't been 'hit with a magic wand and magically turned into an oasis', I can see improvement and feel hopeful for the future.
